Make college more affordable by paying for tuition and fees over time. Tuition payment plans break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There’s no interest, payment options are flexible, setup fees are affordable, and it’s easy to enroll!
Enroll in a Payment Plan
A convenient and flexible way to make payments.
Payers who are not the RISD student must be added by the student as an Authorized Payer. Instructions for both the student and the Authorized Payer to set up a payment plan are below.

Make a One-Time Payment
RISD offers one-time payments without a login required. Users must know how much they wish to pay and payments are processed immediately.
One-time payments are payments not associated with, or applied to, an existing payment plan account.
Payment Plan Information
Simple Steps for Students to Enroll in a Payment Plan
Students: If someone is paying on your behalf, you MUST first set them up as an Authorized Payer in Workday.
Students:
- Log into Workday
- Select the “Finances” icon from the menu
- Choose “Make a Payment” from the Student Accounts section
- Await the launch of a new window for Nelnet Campus Commerce, our payment vendor
- Even if an Authorized Payer is paying on your behalf, you need to log into Nelnet and create your profile before an international payment plan via Convera can be created.
- Select “Set up a Payment Plan” to enroll in the payment plan, or choose “Make a Payment” for one-time payments
Simple Steps to Enroll in a Payment Plan for Authorized Payers
Authorized Payers: If you are paying on behalf of the student, the student MUST set you up as an Authorized Payer in Workday.
Authorized Payers:
Once the student provides access to the Authorized Payer in Workday, that Authorized Payer logs into Workday
- Select the “Finances for Third Party” icon from the menu
- Choose “Make a Payment” from the Payments section
- Await the launch of a new window for Nelnet Campus Commerce, our payment vendor
- Select “Set up a Payment Plan” to enroll in the payment plan, or choose “Make a Payment” for one-time payments
Choose your payment method
- Automatic payment from checking or savings account (ACH)
- Automatic payment from credit or debit card (nonrefundable 2.85% fee applies)
- Regularly scheduled payments will process on the 1st of the month
- Invoice payments through Convera (formerly Western Union) for international payments are due on the 1st of the month, and must be initiated by the payer.
Cost to participate
- $68 nonrefundable enrollment fee
- $30 nonrefundable returned payment fee, if a payment is returned
Note: All one-time payments and enrollment fees are processed immediately! If the enrollment fee payment fails the plan will be terminated.
Enrollment in a payment plan after the RISD payment deadline may lead to a late fee being charged to the student account.

PAYMENT PLAN AVAILABILITY Availability of the payment plan is determined by Rhode Island School of Design. Please be aware RISD may elect not to have the payment plan available prior to the release of semester charges.
BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS Your payment plan balance will not automatically be adjusted with changes to aid, changes to charges, or other non-payment plan payments. You should review your plan agreement balance online, and contact RISD or Nelnet if you need to adjust your payment plan.
